Linwood Elementary School is a vibrant Pre-K through 5th-grade school located in Yazoo County, Mississippi, where we take pride in educating the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally.
The 2026–2027 school year marks another exciting chapter for Linwood Elementary as we continue charting our course to excellence. As part of the Yazoo County School District, we remain committed to high expectations, strong community partnerships, and continuous academic growth. Linwood Elementary has a proud tradition of academic achievement, positive behavior, and community involvement. We are committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and nurturing learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, explore creatively, collaborate with others, and take responsibility for their learning. Our teachers provide high-quality instruction aligned with the Mississippi College- and Career-Readiness Standards, while maintaining high expectations for every learner.
Our dedicated teachers collaborate regularly to design meaningful, standards-aligned lessons that build upon previous learning and prepare students for future success. Instruction includes modeling, collaborative learning, hands-on experiences, purposeful technology integration, formative assessment, and multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate understanding. Reading instruction incorporates evidence-based practices grounded in the Science of Reading, while mathematics instruction emphasizes conceptual understanding, problem-solving, mathematical reasoning, and real-world application.
Technology is an important part of teaching and learning at Linwood. Students have access to Chromebooks and iPads, along with digital instructional resources such as i-Ready, Renaissance Accelerated Reader, Imagine Learning, and other interactive learning tools. These resources complement classroom instruction and provide additional opportunities for practice, enrichment, intervention, and academic growth.
Beyond the core academic classroom, students participate in enrichment opportunities, including physical education, library, and science. Our school counselor also supports students through lessons and activities focused on character development, leadership, responsible decision-making, and social-emotional growth. We believe that developing confident, responsible, and compassionate students is an important part of preparing them for future success.

Our Mission
The Mission of Linwood Elementary School is to provide individualized instruction that meets the needs of each student to ensure that all students achieve academic excellence in a safe and secure environment through the support of faculty, parents, and community members.
Our Vision
The vision of Linwood Elementary School is to be an educational institution where upon completion of fifth grade every student will be proficient in literacy, mathematics, and equipped with 21st century skills that meet all the Mississippi College and Career-readiness standards. Students will be primed with the skills necessary to continue in their development of citizenship, character development, and teamwork to afford them the opportunity to compete in a global society throughout their life endeavors.
